Efficient spin control by exciton-polaritons in planar micro-cavities    [PDF]

G. F. Quinteiro, P. Dmitruk, A. A. Aligia
Control over spins in microcavities is demonstrated to be highly efficient when exerted by exciton-polariton fields. A semiconductor microcavities embedding donor impurities and excited by laser fields is modelled. By including general decoherence processes, and in particular cavity photon leakage, detailed simulations show that the control over the spin dynamics is significally enhanced for high quality-factor cavities, i. e. cavities allowing for the formation of exciton-polaritons, in which case picosecond laser pulses may produce spin-flip with high fidelity.
